The golf teams competed in the regional tournament at the Brenham Country Club golf course in April. The boys team finished 7th overall at the Regional Tournament.
Freshman Hudson Little, who finished 5th individually, will advance as the Region 3-3A 3rd medalist to the State Tournament on May 5 and 6 at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin.
“Our golfers completely bought into our goals this season,” Golf Coach Kelley Ridge said. “I can’t wait to see what we accomplish at Regionals!”
The boys’ team includes Aaron Evans, Ashton Higgs, Ayden Jones, Brayden Thornburg, Brekan Carlson, Cade Nelson, Chandler Phillips, Eli Owen, Finn Smith, Hudson Little, Jesus Pina, Ricky Castaneda, Laiken Carlson, Landon Wood, and Mason Copeland. The team was named district champions, with Little as individual district champion and Nelson as individual third place.
“We have a really good team and we have a really good opportunity at this tournament,” Little said. “For me, I am just going to focus on going as far as I can.”
The Girls team consisted of Zada Pjetrovic, Haddie Owen, Cariss Capps, and Mady B Mitchael. Members Pjetrovic and Owen advanced to regionals.
“Throughout the season, we practice 3-4 days a week,” Ridge said. “But I have a ‘once a week’ minimum requirement. As with most golfers, the short game has been an issue for many of our players. We will continue to stay focused on the short game in order to prepare for Regionals.”
The regional tournament was split. Girls competed on Monday and Tuesday and boys on Wednesday and Thursday.
