Flags placed first in all three contests, receiving several category awards. Captain Erin Rachel earned a choreography award.

Twirlers and flags competed in the Vickie Bowden Mobbs Line Classic at Kilgore Junior College on November 23.

“It’s my second time going to Kilgore,” junior Lauren Cochren said. “Kilgore wasn’t all about competition, it was a lot of fun too. I really enjoyed going with this group of girls.”

Flags competed in single flag, multiple flag, and flag novelty and placed first in all of them.

“It was great to know all our hard work paid off,” flag captain and senior Erin Rachel said. “It was an amazing end to the flag season and to my flag experience in high school. I love these girls and am so proud of all the work they put in. They did amazing!”

Twirlers competed in single and multiple baton routines, placing second in both.

We did really well as a group, and I’m proud of us,” senior twirler Lyndi Wilson said. “I’m content with the fact that this was my last year to perform at Kilgore.

Twirlers performed single and multiple baton routines, placing second with several category awards.

Both Flag and Twirl received awards for No Drops, Outstanding Costumes, Outstanding Performance, and Outstanding Choreography. Rachel received an award for her choreography of the flag’s group performance to “Feel This Moment”.

When I choreographed “Feel This Moment” I just listened to the music and improvised random moves,” Rachel said. “Then I tried to think of steps that would be easy to teach but look great and I added those with the moves. I just repeated this until I got a routine that I liked.

Junior high twirlers attended and performed as well.
