The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in the nation’s most watched sporting event.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs attempted to complete one of the most difficult records that has never been accomplished in the history of the NFL – win three consecutive Super Bowl titles. The only obstacle? Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.
The combination of exceptional defense and explosive offensive earned the Eagles the title of Super Bowl Champions. The Chiefs faced heavy pressure with an early 0-24 deficit in the first half. Star players like Travis Kelce were limited to zero receptions in the first half for the first time in his career.
In the second half, the Chief’s struggles continued. Only in the late third quarter did Isaiah Worthy score a touchdown which was not enough for an unlikely comeback. The Chiefs only scored two other touchdowns for the rest of the game.
The Super Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts, completed 17 out of 22 passes with a total of 227 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Mahomes only completed 21 out of his 32 attempts
for a total of 257 yards and two touchdowns. He threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by rising star, Cooper DeJean.
Nick Sirianni and the coaches are the masterminds behind the Eagles’ victory. He was assigned as Head Coach in 2021 and took the Eagles to the Super Bowl twice since his initial signing.
“[I’m] thankful for the group of guys we have on this football team; the special people, the special players we have on this football team.” said Sirianni. “And it’s just awesome to be able to embrace guys in that moment.”
