The high school faculty, staff, and students will host Holiday in the Halls tonight and open the campus to parents and family to celebrate Christmas with students. The event begins at 6 p.m.
“I’m always excited about Holiday in the Halls,” Principal Sonya Gibson said. “It displays the hard work of the students and gets the community involved in school activities.”
Participants can explore the decorations in the school and meet up with teachers. It also provides an opportunity for parents to connect with student progress.
“Culinary students are showing their progress by preparing snacks, like cookies, for the festivities,” Gibson said. “Cheese balls will also be available to sample and order.”
There will be musical entertainment during the entirety of the event like the Jazz band performing at 6:00, a pianist at the entrance, and the band concerts which follow. The 6th grade Junior High band begins performing at 7:00 while the High School band starts at around 7:30.
“The concert after Holiday in the Halls is the perfect way to top off the night,” senior trumpet Connor Petty said, “especially with the trumpet solos in Cantique de Noel.”
Music selection for the concert includes “And All the Bells Shall Ring!” by Rob Romeyn, “Polar Factory” by Russel Holland, “Big Noise from the North Pole” by Mike Collins, “Cantique De Noel” by Walters, “Elf Revolt” by Holland, “Pirate Kings from the East” by Watson, “On a Winter’s Night” by Barnes, and “Holiday March” by Holland.
“I think it’s a wonderful tradition that keeps growing,” councilor Cindy Kirgan said. “It gets me in the Christmas spirit.”
