The Homecoming game is a time for family, friends, and fans to cheer on their home team. For these girls, it’s a time to do their makeup, spray on their favorite perfume, and wear a beautiful dress that sparkles in the stadium lights.
The Homecoming court will be introduced before the Homecoming game against McGregor this Friday starting at 7:00 p.m.
“Homecoming court is an important tradition because it gives some of the girls of all grades something fun and exciting to do,” freshman duchess Micah Thurman said. “I feel like every girl should be able to dress up and feel special even if it is for a couple of minutes or hours.”
The voting for the Homecoming court was held September 9 through 11, and the following ladies received Homecoming duchess for their grade: freshman Micah Thurman, sophomore Adisyn Devillier, and junior Lauren Scott.
“I think people look forward to seeing the Homecoming court for a few different reasons [such as] school spirit, recognition, excitement, fashion, and presentation,” sophomore duchess Adisyn DeVillier said. “The classes get to see their classmates represent not only the class but the entire school, [and] I believe there is a sense of pride in supporting someone they know and voted for.”
The senior class nominated four ladies for Homecoming queen, which will be determined during the Homecoming ceremony on the field. The seniors are Blayke Brackens. Rhett Ralstin, Samayah Wiley, and Kaylee Williams.
“I think that homecoming is important because it gives everyone something to look forward to, not just the people on the court but the people voting also,” nominee Blayke Brackens said. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to be on the Homecoming court, and also excited to be on the court with not only my lifelong classmates but some of my best friends.”
