After placing at the Area Meet last week, several students advanced to the 3A Region 3 Track Meet to be held in Huntsville April 18 and 19. The Lady Eagles team placed 2nd overall.
“The Lady Eagles program as a whole is very impressive because we work so hard and have such amazing coaches,” Posey said. “I am so glad to have had Coach Whitaker and Coach Barger all of my four years.”
Girl competitors advancing are junior Madison Russell in 3200m Run, sophomore Addison Shipley in 800m Run, sophomore Bella Campise in 800m Run, senior Na’Kayla Connor in 100m Dash, sophomore Jacelynn Schmidt in High Jump and Long Jump, junior Blayke Brackens in Triple Jump, junior Kaylee Williams in Triple Jump and Long Jump. “I feel blessed to be advancing for the fourth year in a row,” Connor said. “I couldn’t ask God to bless me with anything else after he has already blessed me with enough talent to make it back to regionals to defend my title. However, I am sad that I’m getting closer to leaving my team behind after my high school track journey is over.”
Boy competitors advancing are junior Brayden Thornburg in Discus, freshman John Kuzmich in 3200m Run, and junior Collen Loviette in 1600m Run.
“I’m going to miss the weekly opportunity to prove my individual abilities and talents.” Draper said. “The underclassmen are definitely talented. Their success will be dependent on the strength of their leaders.”
