On April 17, the state Solo and Ensemble qualifiers will be hosting a recital at the Intermediate school for all to join followed by a short performance by the jazz band.
The main event will feature the 32 students that are competing in the state competition, performing the very songs and routines that got them the gold medals.
“This is a good opportunity for the community to experience a recital that they would never get to experience around Fairfield otherwise,” senior Brooke Cobb said. “People who love the fine arts will definitely be in for a treat!”
This is the first ever recital hosted by the Grand Band from EagleLand. The jazz band will be giving a short performance as a closing act.
“For the first time I’ll be able to show my loved ones the result of all my hard work,” sophomore Anderson Cruce said. “I’m excited for everyone to see us excel.”
The primary objective of this event is to fundraiser for the students’ state trip that they take for competition. The other objectives are to: expel nerves for the students, show appreciation to the community by providing them with music and food, and to get closer to the very people that support the band.
“Any more opportunities to hone my skills in jazz and classical music is an opportunity I will take with open arms,” sophomore Yahir Yapez said. “More feedback is also appreciated.”
