Three high school students were on the bus during an accident before school on March 25. Junior Megan Amaya, sophomore Stelyn Englutt, and freshman Zayn Ferrell immediately went into action to turn off the engine, remove dangers, check on the bus driver, call 911, usher younger students to safety, and calm the younger students as they waited for emergency vehicles to arrive.
Principal Sonya Gibson bought the students lunch on Wednesday and will recognize the three at the school board meeting on April 9.
“Lunch of their choice is only a small token of how much we value their actions.” Gibson said. “I’m so proud and appreciative of them.”
From footage of the bus accident Monday, Gibson recognized the three high school students who stood out and were active in aiding the younger students.
“They were instrumental in getting all of the students to safety quickly,” Gibson said. “This speaks to the character of these students.”

Stelyn is my grandson and I am extremely proud of him and his school mates for helping out like that. He’s always been a helper with anything that anyone needed help with.
