UIL students advance after district win

Thirty two UIL region competitors will be competing in 18 events Region III Academic UIL meet on April 13 in Huntsville at Sam Houston State University. Competitors placed first as a school in District 19 4A.

The UIL District Meet results are as follows. In accounting, second place is Kendal Crawford, in third place is Frankie Nelson, and Rileigh White fifth.

In calculator applications, Zack Phillips placed third place. In Current Issues, Jack Ezell placed third, and Afnandigo Aqilalwan placed sixth.

In Copy Editing, Anna Kaye Williams placed first, Molly Allred placed second, and Cate Scott placed third.

In Computer Science, Gary Nichols placed first, Drew Williams in fourth place, Tristyn Kahrs in fifth place, and Modesto Cortes in sixth place.

For Editorial Writing, Erin Rachel placed first, and Jordan Maciel placed second.

In Feature Writing, Anna Kaye Williams placed first, Naydelin Espinoza second, and Merrianne Markham third.

In Headline Writing, Garrett Mensch placed second, Cate Scott placed third, and Anna Kaye Williams placed fourth.

In Informative Speaking, Kailyn Partain placed fifth.

In Lincoln Douglas,  Debate Jack Ezell placed fourth, and Teresa Rodriguez placed sixth.

In Literary Criticism Molly Allred placed second with 12 points, and Bailee Akerman placed fifth with six points.

In Mathematics Zach Philips placed second with 12 points, Robby Walia placed third with 10 points, and Devin Johnson placed sixth with two points.

In Number Sense Zach Philips placed second with 12 points, Robby Walia placed third with 10 points, Suhani Patel placed forth with eight points, and Jordan Gibson placed fifth with six points.

In News Writing Molly Allred placed first with 15 points, Abbie Cunningham placed second with 12 points, and Merrianne Markham placed third with 10 points.

In Persuasive Speaking Kelton Carlson placed third with 10 points, Emi Bonner placed fourth with eight points, and Rebecca Dunlap placed fifth place with six points.

In Poetry Interpretation Morgan Coleman placed first with 15 points, and Kayden Salinas placed second with 12 points.

In Prose Interpretation Ashlyn Partain placed fourth with eight points, and Eric Lyles placed sixth with four points.

In Ready Writing David Thomas placed second with 12 points, Kathryn Bogle placed fourth with eight points, and Michelle Rosales placed sixth with four points.

In Science, David Thomas placed third and won the top physics student award.

In Social Studies, Jack Ezell placed second.

In Spelling and Vocabulary, Jeremy Kilkenny placed first, Shakeitha Wiley third, and Harley Gomez  fifth.
