Varsity baseball will play at the Alba- Golden Tournament from Feb. 27 to Feb. 29 at Alba- Golden High School. 

The first game they will play is on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. against Frankston. They will play against Brownsboro at 11:00 a.m. and Beckville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Saturday games will depend on how they play in their pool games. 

“I want to see us compete in each game and show signs of improvement from one game to the next,” head coach Bill Crawford said. “I expect this team to be more competitive than we have had the past few years. It’s been really exciting so far.”

The team played their first game against Westwood Feb. 24 here. The Eagles won with a score 13-3. District games will begin March 27 with the first game against Madisonville.

“I am very excited,” Crawford said. “The players are excited and have been working really hard. We have a great blend of youth and older, experienced guys.”

Baseball players had the alumni scrimmage Feb. 21 at 6:00 p.m. here. The current baseball team won. 

“Baseball has been great,” senior Kody Beene said. “Playing at the alumni scrimmage was a great kickoff to the season.”

Varsity players are seniors Zane Anderson, Kody Beene, Sean Collins, Marcus Lupo, Chandler Noble, Conner Jackson,  juniors Dane Allman, Luke Latham, Carson Moore, Hunter Noland, Zach Phillips, sophomore Kaden Crawford, freshmen Kolby Adams, and Eli Martin.

“It’s been really fun playing,” Jackson said. “Since it’s my senior year, I hope we go far.”

JV players are freshmen Braiden Barrett, Jake Hagen, Jake Schick, Logan Noland, Rex Bean, Wyatt Burts, Wilson Lupo, Caleb George, Monty Morgan, Noah Wilson, Spain Covert, Wyatt Dodds, sophomore Nick Martinez. 

“I’m looking forward to being part of a team again,” Morgan said. “Making memories with the other players and building bonds with the other freshmen players will be fun.” 

After losing coach Josh Stephenson to softball, there were three additions to the coaching staff. Taner Tunstall will join Crawford along with Robert Arrington and Jake Walthall from the junior high. 

“My experience at Fairfield has been amazing,” Tunstall said. “I am looking forward to helping develop our players to become better players and people.”
