Spinning to State

The twirling squad competed in the regional meet held in the band hall on Saturday, September 21. The state competition will occur after the school year.

“I think that I did really well.” sophomore Jaycee Jobe said, “It was my first time at regionals and I was extremely happy with my results.”

The twirling line practices every other day in the morning, and they practice twice a week outside of the period as well.

“We practice twice a week,” senior Hallie Davidson said, “and every other day in the mornings during band to perfect our routines and prepare for State.”

Davidson, Jobe,  junior Harley Gomez, sophomore Carlexia Daniels, and freshman Gilbrea McNeal received a one at region, and will be competing as a group at state.

“It was really scary,” Jobe said, “because I didn’t want to mess it up for the senior in my group.”

Bailey Jones, Lyndi Wilson, Hallie Davidson, Kendal Crawford, Harley Gomez, Breyunna Dowell, Jarahle Daniels, and Jaycee Jobe all received a one at region on their solos.

“It’s sad it’s our last year. The seniors have grown so close to all the twirlers over the years and we will never forget it,” Davidson said. “We worked hard together and achieved so much as a team. I wouldn’t trade the twirling line and the bonds I’ve made with them for anything.”
