The fascinating coming of age teen sports drama All American is based on the true story of young African-American professional football player Spencer Paysinger, named Spencer James in the series, and his rags to riches journey.

Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), an undeniably talented football player with a past, is finally noticed and given a shot to play for the big leagues.  Coach Billy Baker takes a consuming  interest in the young football protege, but for what reason?

Throughout the narrative, Spencer tries to balance his home life in Crenshaw, with his mother and younger brother, and his new rich celebrity status of star football player in Beverly Hills with the Baker family. He struggles with the cultural shift and the two different lifestyles. 

As these two families and their homes are extremely different, and the two worlds of Spencer’s life are drawn together. Spencer will realize that the differences that divided us on the surface can hide a deeper more meaningful connection. Throughout the story you see characters from both of his worlds face similar problems, revealing the complicated truth that the imperfections of all of our lives regardless of race, status, and wealth is what unites them all.
