Eagles to Begin District

Ends Pre-District Games 3-1

   For the pre- season games, the football team has come out 3-1, with wins from both of the scrimmages as well. The football team will compete in their first district game against Lorena at Eagle Field tonight at 7:30 p.m.. 

     “The game against Rusk was a great way to start the season.” senior Justin Abrams said, “I can’t wait to have more great games like that when we start district.”

   The first pre-district game against Rusk at the Rusk stadium ended in a score of 47-34. 

   “This was a really great first game.” senior Drew Wiliams said. “I’m excited to be back on the field playing with my brothers.”

   The second game of the  pre-district season was at Brownsboro stadium against the Brownsboro Bears. The final score for the game against the Bears was a close 14-6. 

   “It wasn’t what we were expecting but a win is a win,” senior Sergio Izquierdo said. “I think if we get better each week we can eventually be a powerhouse.”

   For the boys homecoming game they played Palestine on their home field. The final score was 35-56, with Palestine taking home the win. 

    “We gave it all we got,” senior Chandler Noble said, “I’m proud of the effort we gave on both sides, and we will come back stronger next week.”

   Lorena holds a record of 3-1 with their only loss being to China Spring. Head coach John Bachtel remains positive about the approaching district season.

    “I think the daily grind is going to be our hardest competition,”  Bachtel said . “ If we can get 1% better each day.”
