Baseball will scrimmage Brownsboro tomorrow here at 6 p.m. This will be their second scrimmage and their district season will start on March 22 against Madisonville.

“This year, I hope to push the team to be the best it can be and compete in every game we play,” returning sophomore player Dane Allman said. “Seniors definitely help practices go smoother and get us going when we need motivation.”

Practices started on Friday, January 25. Other returning players are seniors Andre Carter, Blake Posey, Cody Ferguson, AJ Polk, and Chad Rushin, and juniors Tyler Haynes and Brazos Monico.

This is a really good group of older seniors and younger players,” baseball coach Bill Crawford said. “I think we can challenge for the district championship if we work hard and plan to improve everyday.”

With two more scrimmages left to play, players will have six weeks to prepare for district.

“I feel with the young talent on the rise and the leadership from the upperclassmen, we’ll have a head-turning season,” Haynes said “I want to keep it simple, have fun and play ball.”
