The Lady Eagles concluded their volleyball season with a loss against Lorena in the area match last Thursday at Hubbard High School.

With a district record of 5-3, the team placed second in the district and went on to win their bi-district game against Jasper on Oct. 29.

“A lot of people thought we wouldn’t go far without Aaryn, but I think we really came together as a team and picked up the slack to get that win against Jasper,” junior Emi Bonner said.

In their final game, lady eagles started off strong, beating Lorena in the first set. They then lost the next three sets, ending their playoff season.

“I’m really happy that my last season was spent with this team,” senior Kailyn Partian said. “We all got along really well and became a family, and I’ll miss them a lot.”

With only two returning varsity players from the previous year, this team consisted almost entirely of players moved up from the JV team.

“Coming in with ten new players was a challenge, but I think we surprised ourselves and everyone else with how well we did,” senior Katie Judd said. “I love each and every one of my teammates and I’m thankful for such an amazing season.”
