Laughter rang through the air, members conducted business, and energetic dancing ensued as FFA kicked off its 2018-19 year with a night of food, fun, and family.

On October 2, the Fairfield FFA chapter held its first meeting of the 2018-19 year at the AG Barn. Led by president Reagan Emmons, the officer team is determined to make this year one to remember.

“FFA has taught me how to lead with humility and responsibility,” sophomore member Carysn Cox said. “Already I have learned a lot and benefited so much from being a part of FFA.”

The officer team attended the state FFA convention during the summer where they learned the benefits of FFA participation on the community and county. They came up with ideas that were discussed at their local meeting.

“I really enjoyed how even though we had fun at the meeting, we also made motions to decide where the money goes,” sophomore member Abby Coleman said. “Even though we had a good time, the meeting still had a serious purpose.”

Members proposed a motion to put fundraiser money towards future FFA activities, such as the Big Buck Hunt coming up during deer season.

“All of the money is being put towards making our FFA chapter known,” sophomore chaplain Savannah Ellis said. “We want as many people to be involved as possible.”

The officers are planning many leadership activities, retreats, and dances for all FFA members. Members hold a meeting on the first Tuesday of every month to discuss business and upcoming plans.

“FFA has most definitely made me want to come back for more. The officers are like a family and always make everyone feel welcome,” sophomore member Harli Hunt said. “They always lead with a calmness. I cannot wait to see what this year holds.”
