The One Act Play will perform “Lafayette No. 1” at bi-district competition on Friday March 23 at five p.m. in Palestine. “Lafayette No. 1” is a historical drama based on the lives of victims of yellow fever in Louisiana.

One Act Play advanced in district against Palestine, Athens, Mexia, and Madisonville. A total of six schools, including Athens and Palestine, will compete at bi-district; three of these will advance to Area competition.

“The show has been difficult to put together,” junior Ashlyn Partain said, “but I’m proud of everyone’s efforts and performance. We’ve come a long way since the beginning, and I can’t wait to see how far we will go.”

At the district level, Preston Long and Anna Kaye Williams received all star cast, and Kayden Salinas and Jack Ezell received honorable mention all star cast. Backstage manager Mayra Soto received a tech award.

“I’m excited that we’re advancing to bi-district and hopefully we will advance again,” junior Mayra Soto said. “I hope that everything runs smoothly and there are no mess ups.”

The dress rehearsal will be in Palestine at four p.m. on Thursday at 4.
