Being a Drum Major consists of character, leadership, and work ethics. The 2024-2025 Drum Majors for the Grand Band from EagleLand are juniors Brooke Cobb, Casey Couture, Jerry Draper, and Zada Pjectrovic.
“What I like most about the band is getting to work with many different people and getting to be someone that they look up to in hopes that they can take up leadership skills and become a leader themselves,” Pjectrovi said. “We as a band want to make it far and to make our band directors proud, and by working hard while also having fun is a way that we can do just that.”
The tryouts consist of a series of questions, teaching portion, marching abilities, conducting the band, votes, essay, and speech.
“As a drum major, I’ll do my best to lead with responsibility, integrity, and precision to help our band thrive and continue to achieve success,” Cobb said. “Band means so much to me so I will put in all my efforts to leave a lasting mark on our wonderful community.”
For the past three years the band has had three drum majors; this year they took four people out of the seven people that tried out.
“In the past, I have seen previous drum majors lead the band with a positive yet assertive attitude,” Couture said. “I think that is a crucial part of being a drum major.”
The 2024-25 section leaders consists of flute Kynzee Payne, clarinet freshman Kimmaykay Rath, low reed junior Caden Thibodeaux, trumpet junior Connor Petty, french horn junior Lydia Morgan, trombone senior Ben Kilkenny, baritone sophomore Erick Roales, tuba junior Alfonso Rodriguez, and percussion junior Luke Cruce.
