Five Nights at Freddy’s

On October 27, 2023 the widely anticipated “Five Nights at Freddy’s’’ movie came out. The movie was first announced in 2015 and has been delayed many times, with the games creator (Scott Cawthon) rewriting it and changing the script. There were many movies which sprung from these failed scripts such as “Willy’s Wonderland” and “The Banana Splits Movie”. In the Fnaf Movie the main actor featured was Josh Hutcherson. The FNAF Movie takes place in an alternate timeline relative to the official books rather than the games. 

The movie revolves around a security guard named Mike Schmidt. Mike Schmidt is a man who lives with his younger sister named Abby. Since Mike and his sister live alone he works all day to support the two of them. In the beginning of the movie he loses his job because of him oversleeping and arriving late too many times. Once Mike gets fired he looks around for a new job, and a man named Steve Raglan offers a job to him at a place called “Freddy Fazbears Pizzeria.” After much consideration he eventually takes the job. At this job he is required to stay five nights from 12:00 to 6:00 am. During those 5 nights his little sister, Abby, befriends the Animatronics. In the middle of all of this going on, he has terrible nightmares about the abduction of his brother, which requires him to take sleeping medicine. During his nights he falls asleep. Whenever Mike first meets the animatronics through Abby, he is initially doubtful. Though after he befriends them, they begin to show a darker side. 

The lead role Josh Hutcherson, plays Mike Schmidt. His performance in The Fnaf Movie is on par with his performance in the popular movie/book series “The Hunger Games.” Josh Hutcherson has been popular among many generation with the “Whistle PMV” of him from 2014. Even the President of the United States participated in the popular “Whistle” trend. 

The Fnaf movie was disappointing for others, but absolutely stunning for most, including myself. It appeals to the older generation (Gen z) who grew up with the original story of Fnaf. The plot closely resembles what we knew when only the first 3 games were released. It was a perfect mix of horror and uncanniness that captivated many viewers. The most disappointing part of the movie was the design of Bonnie. While most people believe him to be blue (like in the Movie and the creators official word), me and many other people believe him to be purple, as he is coloured that way in media portrayal, merch, and the games itself.
