Lights, camera, and action! Actors and actresses gather on the stage, and all eyes are on them. The spectacle is not just the actors and actresses, it’s the behind the scene crew as well.
The drama club will perform “The Attempted Murder of Peggy Sweetwater” as their fall production on November 11 at 7:00 p.m. and November 12 at 3:00 p.m.
¨I am very excited about the play,” director and drama teacher Hannah Koenig said. “I came across it during my first year directing and since then, I’ve had it on my list of plays I want to produce.”
The one act comedy will be presented at the FHS auditorium on Saturday and Sunday.
¨I wanted to be involved in this production because I love entertaining audiences; and being on stage is a huge passion of mine,” senior Emma Jo Smith said. “Anytime I get the chance to perform, I am always interested and want to be a part of the production in any capacity,¨
Tickets for the performances will be $10 for adults and $5 for students.
¨What I love about my character, Sir Phillip Dowden, is his sense of humor, and his ability to always see the good in people,¨ Smith said. ¨The biggest challenge I face with this role is that it’s a male role. Making sure I embrace the true essence of the character is the number one goal for me, so I try to be conscious of the character’s mannerisms and voice.”
The actors and actresses have practiced over 5 hours a week since September.
¨I have never done anything like this and I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try something new,¨ senior Jude Rounds said. ¨I’m not a loud or outgoing person, so this is really all new to me and I’m still trying to adjust.”
The cast of “The Attempted Murder Of Peggy Sweetwater” is Ben Kilkenny as Edward Llwellyn, Emma Smith as Sir Phillip Dowen, Kynzee Payne as Percy Saunders, Skylar Bonner as Giles, Nadia Hoskins as the Duchess of Lardham, Newton Hartley as Bill Baxer, Aiden Adams as Sean ¨Sidestep¨ O´Doodle, Anna Moyer as Peggy Sweetwater, Evie Fultz as Myrtle, and Jude Rounds a Morley.
¨I wanted to try out and just see what would happen,” freshman Anna Moyer said. “Now that I’m a part of the cast, it feels like I’ve found a second family,¨
The light crew behind the scenes is Emily Kent, Preston Scott, and RaeAnne Rossiaky. Sound crew is Bailey Holland. Stage crew are Marianna Aguilera, Eashan Kalyanji, Deyla Morgan, Kiera Walker, Destiny Dowell, Abril Ocampo, Nicholas Ingalls, Iteel Rosales, Brianna McDonald, and Alyssa Winters.
“I love my character’s excitement and passion about his profession. He is a botanist, so he studies plants,” junior Kynzee Payne. “The biggest challenge about taking on my role is being really expressive with everything I do and really portraying the intense emotions of my silly character.”
Starting now, students can purchase tickets ahead of time either in person (in the office or room E106), or online on the school website. Tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the show.
