Each year over 240,000 women get diagnosed, and over 1.9 million people get diagnosed with various types of cancer.
After raising funds and awareness, Beta club will present $1000 to Freestone County Cancer Support Group at the pep rally on Thursday in honor of October Cancer Awareness.
¨It is super important to support people who have cancer,” Beta Club sponsor Gay Lynn Swan said. ¨The money will always be donated to the FCCS.¨
Beta club, who has carried on this tradition every October, sold over 175 shirts as a fundraiser for FCCS. Each year students are able to purchase the shirts they can wear to either the pink out game or pep rally to support the cause. This year’s shirt was the pink out shirt was designed by senior Emily Kent.
The pink out pep rally will be held on Thursday instead of Friday due to the Columbus day break. The Eagles will take on Mexia October 6 at Eagle Field.
