The Lady Eagles ranked 1st in district, will play the Lady Black Cats Friday at 4:30 p.m in Mexia Friday evening. The volleyball team played their sixth district game against Buffalo winning three sets.
¨I think it is going great so far this year I know we are ranked 3rd in the state and we really just learned how to work together as a team,¨ senior Lily Beaver said. ¨Before every game we listen to a lot of songs and we are always sure to be together as a team and do everything together before the games.¨
The varsity team has won 26 games so far. They started district play on September 9 by beating Teague 3-0. Since then, they have won over Westwood 3-0, Franklin 3-0, Groesbeck 3-0, Elkhart 3-0, and Buffalo 3-0.
I feel very confident about this volleyball season.” senior Avery Thaler said. ¨Our team is extremely athletic and we all have the same goal so if we continue to work hard we will be able to go far in the playoffs this year.¨
The team consists of seniors Avery Thaler, Zadie McPherson, Emma White, Kennedy Lane, Taylor Stone, Averi Minze, Zoey Haskins, Lily Beaver, juniors Addison Posey, Madelyn Morrison, sophomore Avery Strait, and freshman Jacelynn Schmidt.
