Bubbly Teen Drama on Netflix

If you are looking for a animated teen drama on Netflix, try Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.

Directed by Ishiguro Kyohei, the main stars of this movie are Cherr,  voiced by Ichikawa Somegoro and Smile, voiced by Hana Sugisaki. The screenwriter is Sato Dai.

The animation is very vibrant and colorful, reminding me of a cute video game, and the soundtracks for this movie really fit the concept. The main plot is about a boy who has trouble communicating but expresses himself through haiku and a bubbly but self-conscious girl who is a live streamer.

During the first few minutes of the movie, Smile wears a mask because she doesn’t like her bucktooth smile, and later on Cherry explains that he wears headphones to avoid talking to people.

The romance between the two characters goes at slow pace, and there is always something to keep you interested.
