Head coach Tarsha Graves and assistant coach Dani German are preparing their cross country team for their next meet in Round Rock on September 23. This is the same course used for the state meet.

The boys will be chasing their second team win of the season following their first win in six years on August 31 in Madisonville. Sophomore Jerry Draper led the team placing second individually. The girls team placed first as a team at Madisonville with junior Madox Mitchael leading her team with second place.

“Cross county has been difficult,” junior Madox Mitchael said, “but the challenge of each meet is what drives us.”

The coaches have been working on making their team successful in order to win the district meet on October 12 at the Fairfield course.

“We have increased our endurance runs, speed workouts and plyometrics,” Head coach Tasha Graves said. “With the increase our times should drop and we should hit our peak performance at district.”

The boys varsity and jv teams consist of juniors Demetrio Reyes and Samuel Webb Rivera, sophomores Jerry Draper, Aaron Valentin, and Jacob Jobe, and freshmen Mason Edwards, Collen Loviette, and Armand Reyes. The girls teams consists of senior Shadasia Brackens, juniors Marianna Aguilera, Lillian McBean, and Madox Mitchael, sophomores Zada Pjetrovic, Hailey Wall, and Damaya Willis, and freshmen Blayke Brackens, Madison Russell, and Kaylee Williams.
