Twirlers to Compete at Region

2022-2023 FHS Twirlers

The twirlers will perform for regionals Saturday at 8 a.m. at Fairfield Junior High School competing against Franklin, Groesbeck, and Salado. FHS Twirlers include sophomores Suzune Awalt, Elizabeth Pillians, Morgan Roberson, Abigail Gallegos, and Kylie Story, junior Kristavia Nelms, and senior captain Gilbrea McNeil.  Last year the twirlers advanced to state in Austin, Texas.

“I am super excited…the girls are looking great, and I believe they will do amazing,” sponsor Jami Jones said. “Lots of practice!! We have been going over routines at out group practices to get them perfected and they also put in a lot of work on their own.”

All 7 twirlers are doing a solo. 

“I feel comfortable performing this year because it’s my senior year,” McNeil said. “Our group is really good; it’s one of the best ones I have performed with.”

“This year I feel less nervous than last year,” Roberson said. “I really like my group and I think I’m gonna do good.” When asked what it takes to be a twirler Roberson says “ It takes a lot of hard work and determination to become a twirler.”

“I am excited but nervous,” Pillans said. “It takes a lot of time, effort and dedication. It’s fun and soothing”
