Senior Alyssa Whitaker-Williams will be releasing her new single “Red” on March 12 to debut her singing career to the world.

“I’ve been working really hard on this new song and I’m excited for everyone to hear it,” Alyssa said. “It’s very challenging, but it is something I’ve always wanted to do. I started singing when I was 10 years old and haven’t stopped singing since.”

Alyssa is the first female vocal artist to be represented by the record label Team2X and William “Rookie 2X” Loftin.

Team2X discovered me on Instagram, messaged me and asked if I could sing,” Alyssa said. “It all started from there. This organization will help you with your dreams if you want to become a singer or model.”

Alyssa  records and produces her music both at home on her computer and at the studio locations in Dallas and Houston.

“I write whenever I have time,” Alyssa said. “I’m usually writing songs and constantly singing every chance I get. They [the label] do provide songs, but I prefer to write my own songs because it just doesn’t feel like me when I don’t write my songs.”

Alyssa will be recording under the name Lyss.

“Lyss has been my nickname for years,” Alyssa said. “I’ve always wanted it to be my artist name. It’s simple and classy.”

Alyssa writes her music to inspire to be confident and know anything is possible.

“For me, what I’ve learned,” Alyssa said, “is to not let fear chase me. You chase it. Go chase your dreams.”
