Coronavirus Causes Concern
February 6, 2020
Eleven cases of the Wihan Coronavirus have been confirmed in the United States. Four hundred and twenty-seven people have died worldwide due to this virus causing the nation to be sent into a panic.
People should be more concerned with influenza than coronavirus because the flu is more dangerous and common.
Coronavirus is not as deadly or dangerous as the flu. Zero people have died in the United States so far from Coronavirus. However, according to USA Today there have been more than 15 million confirmed cases of the flu this season resulting in more than 8,200 deaths so far. Both illnesses have similar symptoms, but the flu has proven to be more dangerous in the states. People who are afraid of the deadly effects of the Coronavirus should be more concerned about the flu.
The flu is also more common than Coronavirus. According to the CDC, the first coronavirus outbreak was in Wuhan, China. Wuhan is currently under a massive quarantine. A virus that is common in a country thousands of miles away should not be more concerning than a sickness that has been attacking the states for years. The school has already had to take two flu-cations this year in order to prevent the spreading of the flu between students.
The coronavirus is just a new fad in the U.S.. People are contriving conspiracy theories about Coronavirus being a biological weapon from China that became uncontrollable. There are also various reports that China’s government is withholding information about how many people are being affected by this virus. Footage of a Chinese hospital has been released showing body bags laying around hospital floors in China. The person who posted the video reportedly went missing the next day. Either way, unless the virus has a massive surge, the flu is still the more prominent issue.
During this season of sickness, people need to stop worrying about a foreign virus that has only harmed a fraction of the people that the flu has. The Coronavirus has the potential to be harmful, but currently, it is not a direct threat to the nation. However, the flu is still at large so keep healthy habits.
